Florida manatees play an important role in influencing plant growth in Florida’s shallow rivers, bays, estuaries, canals and coastal waters. These gentle slow-moving giants glide through the shallows. The only sound that breaks the quiet waters are when they surface for a few seconds exhaling powerful bursts of air.
